Big Week in CA for Romney - Picks Up Endorsements from YRFC & CRA
by Brandon Powers - Los Angeles County (bio) (email)(print)
Mitt Romney has had a great week in California.
First, on Wednesday night, the Young Republican Federation of California's Board of Directors voted to endorse the Romney campaign - becoming the first grassroots group in the state to endorse Governor Romney.
To add to that, just minutes ago, the California Republican Assembly joined the YRFC by overwhelmingly voting to endorse the Romney campaign.
By a vote of 148 - 73, CRA took a big step in showing clearly that the conservative base of the Republican Party is coalescing around Governor Romney.
Primary elections are traditionally dominated by the bases of each Party - and within California, there aren't more representitive voices of the conservative base than YRFC and CRA.
Like I said, it was a big week in CA for Mitt Romney.

Congrats to the Romney organization for winning the CRA endorsement. That's about the best thing I can say for happened this morning. I guess all those new Romney CRA units can go back to life outside of CRA.
Posted by Allan Bartlett at November 11, 2007 12:01pmCongratulations to David Reade, Romney's CA Political Director, on his hard work, organization, and strategy. David, you and your team have much to celebrate. Congrats again!
Posted by Anthony Adams at November 11, 2007 12:36pmCongratulations are certainly in order for Gov. Romney and all his crew! The only thing that keeps me from being completely pleased is I'm not sure precisely where Gov. Romney stands on illegal immigration. Yes, he says he's against it. But I want to know the answer to a simple yes-or-no question: Would President Romney agree to any proposal that would provide legal status to the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens currently in the United States? I can't find anything on the record that specifically addresses his position on this basic issue. Can anyone answer this for me?
Posted by David Foy at November 11, 2007 5:03pmCongrats to the supporters of Gov. Flip Flop
Posted by Paul Stine at November 11, 2007 7:06pmInteresting endorsement from the CRA, which was barely 2/3rds needed.
Posted by Allen J. Wilson at November 11, 2007 7:31pmFrankly, the GOP California voters will have the final say in sending the California delegates, by Congressional Districts, to the 2008 Republican National Convention in the upcoming February 5th Primary.
Let the debate begin as to who is the best qualified candidate for President and who can beat any of the Democrats. Obviously, that person is Rudy Giuliani!
I am a principle Conservative Republican, but I do have a good dose of reality as we head into 2008. I hope my fellow Republicans understands that reality as well.
"I'm for small government - except when big government can be used to enforce my worldview". Nah I don't think so.
Posted by Alex Burrola at November 11, 2007 10:42pmStill with Ron Paul.
