Today's Commentary: Bruce Herschensohn On Why We Need To Elect Chuck DeVore

by Jon Fleischman - Publisher (bio) (email)(print)

3-7-2009 7:59 am
I am pleased this morning to share a guest commentary from a very esteemed reader of the FlashReport, Bruce Herschensohn.  Herschensohn, who is a senior fellow at the Pepperdine University School of Public Policy, was for many, many years a commentator on KABC television in Los Angeles.  In 1992, he was the Republican nominee for United States Senate.  Herschensohn is widely considered to be one of the country's leading experts on foreign policy issues -- and a great mentor and friend to this website publisher.
Chuck DeVore:
A Leader We Need In The U.S. Senate

By Bruce Herschensohn

Chuck DeVore is not merely qualified for to be California's next U.S. Senator; he has performed service for the United States throughout his adult lifetime and has done it magnificently.  I have known Chuck for decades now and I feel so strongly about him because he has served in those areas that I believe are the most important: national defense and foreign policy with his personal knowledge of the world.  He has traveled throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, and Central America; he worked in the aerospace industry for 13 years and helped develop the Arrow Anti-Ballistic Missile Program; he was a Reagan White House appointee in the Pentagon; he was awarded as being the Legislator of the Year by the California Veterans of Foreign Wars and not so incidentally, after 24 years since he first enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve, he retired from the Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel with honors.
