Brown Campaign Gaffe #3 - They Keep Lying About Selling The State Plane...

Jerry Brown keeps working hard to draw the "I'm just not cut out to be California's top elected official" narrative - since the primary.  First we had him compare his opponent Meg Whitman to Nazi Josephs Goebbels (yes, one of Adolph Hitler's right hand men).  Who does that?  Shortly after that followed his snide retort to a reporter who asked him about state's finances, to which he said that he had a plan, but that would tell us, "after the election." (Seriously.)

Well, now are on to #3 of "Stupid Moments For Moonbeam's Campaign" - the state plane that he keeps announcing he sold when Governor, that he did not sell.  In a campaign video, Brown bragged up in April that he sold the Executive Jet - but he did not.  But their campaign did sucker our friends Phil and Jerry over at CalBuzz into repeating the lie.  Here's how CalBuzz corrected the record:

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire: Calbuzz mistakenly reported the other day that Jerry Brown had sold the state airplane. We couldn't remember where we got that alleged factoid which, the Sacramento Bee's Dan Walters informed us, was wrong. Ronald Reagan sold the plane. Tuesday, we found the source of our mistake: it was in Jerry Brown's own video — the one they showed at the Democratic Party state convention and the one that's on his web site here (or at least it was before we spoke to Brown campaign manager Steve Glazer who tried to argue that it wasn't their mistake, they just pulled together news clips!). "He sold the governor's executive jet and travels commercially," the narrator intones in the video. After first trying to argue that the mistake was Mike Wallace's or Morley Safer's, Glazer finally said, "I'm sorry that our video had a factual inaccuracy and you reprinted it."

Embarrassing Brown Campaign Moment #3 is not the April plane gaffe, but the contemporary one from this week.  Yes, once again Brown's campaign is taking credit for selling the state plane that they never sold.  Brown campaign manager Steve Glazer fired off a fundraising appeal on Wednesday in which he brags up Brown as having, "led by example...ditching the private jet." (I can send the appeal to interested parties.)

Perhaps this blog post will serve as a helpful warning to Phil and Jerry (and every other reporter and blogger covering the race) that apparently Jerry Brown and his campaign have no problem repeating lies over and over again - even after being called on it.

This guy is seriously not up to the task of being Governor (again).

In closing, we dedicate this video to Steven Glazer, who apparently lives on Fantasy Island, where the plane did get sold...
