Irvine School Forum Article, and More…

I mentioned earlier this week that I spoke in support of Proposition 76 at an Irvine’s Schools forum — well you can read the Irvine World News’ take on the event below (it is an attachment).  I was not as eloquent as Tom Campbell is in today’s San Francisco Chronicle — but I took it to the educrats!

Today’s news is packed with a lot of stuff — every Thursday is the publishing day for Capitol Weekly magazine, which is the "Roll Call" of the state capitol.  Clearly this is a superior publication as they have asked me to be a regular contributor!  Just kidding.  Actually, it is a great newspaper — and so every Thursday, the FlashReport News Links include a number of stories/column from the paper.  Today’s include a piece from yours’ truly that focuses on a sad phenomenon – that in a house dominated by liberals, even our best conservative legislators are reduced to authoring some poor legislation…  FlashReport Weblog Author Bill Whalen pens a defense of controversial Steve Poizner, who was blasted last Thursday in the Cap Weekly by writer A.G. Block (You can read this by going to last Thursay’s FlashReport using the toggle in the upper right corner).

The funniest link of the day on the FlashReport site is to the column of Bakersfield California writer Vic Pollard, who has made a big deal out of a Young Americans for Freedom flyer distributed at last month’s GOP Convention in Anaheim.

I should not miss a chance to give some kudos to my boss in my day job, Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona.  There is an article in today’s Orange County Register that talks about his initiative to cross-train a host of Sheriff’s Deputies with the federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) team in order to allow our agency to use felony immigration violations as a way to get criminals off of the streets of Orange County.  Great idea!

Coming tomorrow:  Another look at the California Republican Congressional Delegation and Proposition 77 — including a letter signed by about HALF of the delegation expressing support to the Governor.  Who HASN’T SIGNED IT??  And WHY??  Some people don’t like Prop. 77, and it could be that some people don’t like Bill Thomas.  We’ll take a look!
