Today’s Commentary: Under New Management: Los Angeles County GOP

Just a couple of weeks ago, the many members of the Los Angeles County Republican Party Central Committee gathered and brought in some new leadership for the county committee – and let me assure FlashReport readers that these changes, all for the good, are really going to better position Republicans in our state’s most largely populated county to make some much-need gains.  Their new Chairman is Jane Barnett, First Vice Chairman is Gary Aminoff, Second Vice Chairman is John Cozza, Treasurer is Len Lanzi, Secretary of Alex Burrola, Assistant Treasurer is Gwendolyn Patrick and Assistant Secretary is Davina Keiser – all capable, competent party leaders.  Ashley Ingram is the new Executive Director.  (Aminoff is the only new officer that was on the previous board, but he played a key role in making the change-over in leadership.)

Today in the FlashReport, we feature a column from the LA County GOP’s new Chairman, Jane Barnett (pictured left), which we hope you will take the time to read it.  When I think of the change from her immediate predecessor to Jane, the first word that comes to mind is experience.  I have been involved in Republican Party politics since 1988, and that’s how long I have known Jane.  And Jane knew then more than I know now about party organization, and that’s after my having served as our state party’s Executive Director!

Jane has a huge breadth of life experience from being a mother of seven children, and having been the owner and operator of a small business.  She has worked for numerous GOP elected officials, for the Leadership Institute, Oliver North’s Freedom Alliance, and more.  Her volunteer resume is, frankly, too lengthy to list out here.

Don’t waste the net on this…LA has less than 25% who are considered in the middle class.

Who would you vote for? The chubby attorney eating crab cakes at the Riveria Country Club or the candidate in the trenches pushed by La Raza or Acorn.

  2. gaminoff@aminoff.com Says:

Don’t write off LA, Mr. Bosich. We expect to make some significant changes, despite the overwhelming Democrat Party demographics in LA County. We think we will get some Republicans elected in Democrat districts in 2010 and more in 2012. Check back here in 2012 and let’s see if you want to write off LA County.

Ignore Los Angeles County at your peril, Robert. Just do like the Democrats and take it for granted. Then we’re gonna surprise the hell out of everybody.

  4. allenw2001@yahoo.com Says:

Robert: Do not underestimate General Barnett and her strong lietuenants who are willing to go down the trenches to fight the Democrats!

When the battle is done, we will be proud to show our scars and bruises, because it was for the good of the taxpayers and hard working citizens of Los Angeles County!

Therefore, message to the Democrats: Los Angeles County is up for grabs and We, Republicans, intend to earn their vote with integrity, dignity and honesty!

Anyone who wants to write off LA County needs to look at the GOP and DTS registration there. Just run a count. LA still has a ton of Republicans and a ton of people up for grabs. Abandoning it is foolish.

Jane is a practical person. My guess is she will do well, under difficult circumstances. Congrats Jane.
