It’s Official – Beth Gaines Announces 4th Assembly District Candidacy!

Back in late December I told you that Beth Gaines, wife of newly minted conservative State Senator Ted Gaines, would be a candidate for the 4th District Assembly seat, now vacant with Gaines’ being sworn into the Senate.  Well, this morning Beth will make it official and formally launch her campaign!

Yesterday afternoon I ran into Beth near the State Capitol and she shared with me that today she would be making a formal announcement.  Her campaign will be putting out a press release later this morning, but were here at the FlashReport were able to snag an early copy… (Her campaign website is here).

Beth Gaines Announces Assembly Candidacy

ROCKLIN, CA — Conservative Republican Beth Gaines today announced that she will be a candidate in the upcoming Special Election in the 4th Assembly District.

"Since before Christmas, I have been overwhelmed with phone calls and words of encouragement from people who live in our area and who want me to run," said Gaines. "It’s clear that the voters want to be represented by a conservative who is in touch with the concerns of our district. I know the people of this district, have a passion for them and share their concerns."

"Our district wants and deserves a conservative representative who will oppose tax increases, shrink government and work to create opportunities for businesses to grow and create jobs," Gaines said.

Beth Gaines said she will use her life experiences — in private business, as a mother of six and as an active conservative — to work for the people in the 4th district.

"I don’t come from government. Instead, I will bring a unique set of experiences and skills to representing the people of our area," said Gaines. "I’ve worked in independent businesses, raised a family and been active in local charities and conservative causes."

Beth Gaines is a marketing consultant for the family business, Point West Insurance Associates. Her prior business experience includes sales and marketing for a medical supply company and management experience at the local branch of a national workforce employment firm. She has also served as a teacher for Placer County preschoolers.

Long active in the local community, Gaines has served as a volunteer for numerous charities and groups, including the Child Abuse Prevention Council, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and Acres of Hope. Beth Gaines loves the outdoors and the recreational opportunities provided in the 4th District. She learned to hunt at the age of 12 and enjoys, along with her family, both snow skiing and water skiing. Her husband is State Senator Ted Gaines. The Gaines family lives in Roseville.

Thus far the other serious GOP contender in this open primary is John Allard, a former longtime staffer to now retired state legislator Tim Leslie — who now owns a domestic housekeeping franchise is a member of the Roseville City Council.

This primary will be much more contentious with Gaines entry.  It will be interesting to see if Gaines and Allard end up as the top-two vote-getters, and have to face each other again in the runoff.

Jon – I find it bizarre that someone running for a NorCal seat would use a SoCal webiste with which to announce or leak the announcement. I mean no affront to this site – just asking the question.

She has not emailed to supporters and as of yet has not scheduled a presser or a physical announcement location – certainly a different way to launch a campaign in NorCal.

We’ve known here that she was running for a while. This is going to be short and intense and bizarre.

Michael Babich from Auburn, Cheryl Bly-Chester from Roseville, Jeff Randall from Antelope and John Hunt from Loomis are all going to join the party as well

The ‘Flash Report’ is a STATEWIDE phenomenon, as the list of regular
correspondents shown on this page makes clear.

Please note the contributors from Sacramento, San Francisco and
northern California. They include respected names like Tab Berg,
Jennifer Nelson, Matt Rexroad, Jill Buck and Doug LaMalfa.

So… how does that make the Flash Report a “SoCal’ website??
