Let’s confront an uncomfortable fact.No one wants to address the very highper capitablack violent crime rates.Indeed, merely broaching this topic is often grounds for censorship and cries of “racism.”

The fruit doesn’t fall far from the Burke family tree, so the saying goes.Assemblywoman Autumn Burke doesn’t want to have to live in her Los Angeles Assembly district. Her mother, Los Angeles County Supervisor mother Yvonne Burke, apparently didn’t live in her district either,accordingto the Los Angeles Times in two 2007 articles.

Just as the 2018 legislative session was winding down last week,California lawmakers sent Gov. Jerry Brown a bill that would allow them to live outside the districts in which they were elected and ostensibly represent.

What’s next? Mayors who don’t have to live in the cities in which they were elected? City council members who do not have to live in their council districts?

More than ever, lawmakers should be required to live in the cesspool districts in which they were elected in order to be inspired to facilitate change.

It was only a few years ago when Sen. Rod Wright, D-Inglewood, was convicted of perjury and voter fraud for lying about his legal residence in Los Angeles County. El Dorado County Superior Court Judge Steven Bailey recently retired to run for California Attorney General. A Superior Court judge since 2009, Bailey stepped down last month to mount his campaign for the office of Attorney General.

Bailey, an attorney since 1990, was a State of California Criminal Law Specialist, and handled complex criminal matters including death penalty, life in prison, homicide and sexual offenses.

This is significant since Xavier Becerra, the current Attorney General has been a politician his entire career rather than practicing law. Becerra’s law license was filed “inactive” with the California State Bar Association until 1/1/2017.

Sacramento Sheriff Scott Jones Announces Bid For Congress

Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones, one of the most outspoken critics of President Obama’s lackadaisical immigration policy, announced Monday he is running for Congress as a Republican against Rep. Ami Bera, D-Elk Grove.

Jones was elected sheriff in 2010. While Jones said today’s immigration and national security issues are a priority, his platform includes economic issues.
