Northern California needs a fighter in Washington. The stakes are too high and the issues too important to have a representative who may vote right, but is not connected to the people. We need someone who does more than just vote right; we need a representative who will battle bureaucrats and overzealous regulators every day. That is why Wally Herger has endorsed me to carry on the conservative fight after his retirement.
I have never been shy about standing up for conservative values. From being an early supporter of propositions ending racial preferences and protecting marriage as between one man and one woman, to fighting for parental notification and against illegal immigration, I have been at the forefront of the battle. Now is the time to be bold and fight for a vision of America that adheres to our founding.
To truly be a representative it takes more than being right and giving a nice speech. You need to get in the field, willing to be as merciless on the bureaucrats as they are on the people. I see it as my job to stand between the bureaucrat thugs and the people, to defend the hard working folks from those who would fee and regulate them to death.
I am proud of my deep connections to Northern California. My family has been farming here for over 80 years. As the managing partner in the farm I found myself spending more time fighting government regulations and bone headed ideas from folks who’ve never spent a day farming in their lives. That’s what spurred me into the arena of politics; someone needed to fight back.
Those problems aren’t unique to farming, timber, or manufacturing. As Government has grown astronomically in recent years, our freedoms have shrunk and we all face increasingly overbearing regulation of our lives and businesses. Worse yet, we have to pay for them too.
From stimulus, auto bailouts, and Obamacare to the National Labor Relations Board that dictates to companies where they can do business; we need to change Washington, especially who sits in the White House, and restore power to the citizens.
When big government is the problem, more government is not the solution.
Washington borrows 43 cents of every dollar it spends, much of it from foreign countries who are not friendly to our culture or freedoms. We are in debt and it threatens the security and future of our great country. We must cut spending now. Government needs to get back to common sense and follow the constitution. It simply cannot and should not do everything. I’ll say it - we need to eliminate vast portions of the federal government.
The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, Gun Owners of America, and leading conservative fighters from our California congressional delegation, including Rep. Ed Royce, Rep. Darrell Issa, Rep. John Campbell, Rep. Jeff Denham, and many others have endorsed me. I look forward to joining them in the battle to save our country.
