
The 100 Club of Alameda County
Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the annual dinner for the 100 Club of Alameda County as a new member. The purpose of the 100 Club is to help provide for spouses and dependents of police and firefighters who lose their lives in the line of duty.
The event was a who’s who of "good guys" in Alameda on both sides of the aisle. I especially enjoyed seeing friends from the Deputy Sheriff’s Association…always a colorful conversation! (:
Notables in the crowd were new Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern; Dublin Mayor Janet Lockhart; former Mayors of San Leandro Sheila Young and Jack Maltesta; former Mayor of Pleasanton Frank Brandess – though the current Mayors of Pleasanton and Hayward were absent. There was no representation of any State Assemblymembers, nor in any candidates for the same, but I’m sure they will all be there in a few months at the BBQ.
