77th AD – Anderson Out Fast & Furious on Immigration

In the open La Suer 77th seat that is expected to be (ok, will be) a donnybrook of a race, but up ’til now has been relatively quiet while fairly even in fundraising, Joel Anderson got some attention last weekend on immigration issues.

Chris Simcox, co-founder of the Minutemen project, flew in from Arizona to show his support for Anderson at a campaign kickoff in Santee attended by nearly 150.  Simcox, reviled by illegal immigration apologists yet whose endorsement is coveted by most any conservative, especially in a border district like the 77th, generated TV coverage for Anderson on both KUSI and Fox 6 Sunday nite.

"When it comes to public safety for the state of California, securing the border should be job number one. That means we need some leadership in the state capitol, and that’s why we are looking for good people like Joel," Simcox said.

In return, Anderson called Simcox a "great American Patriot," saying "There are so few people that are willing to take on this fight to secure our border and I am privileged and proud to have him here today."

Some of the other candidates in the race, perhaps all, will no doubt be pegging immigration as a core campaign issue.  Debbie Beyer, backed by La Suer, will continue to focus on it as well.  All others have been relatively quiet.  But, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few are steaming over the Simcox appearance.

In the spirit of full disclosure, Joel was my college roommate and the best man in my wedding.  As well, he has been instrumental in my past campaigns.

In the spirit of a message, I WILL be posting on the race in the 77th, even if some of the other candidates purposely leave me off their distribution lists.  With that said, and this goes for anyone in SD … you have to let me know what’s goin’ on and what you’re doin’ for me to know about it and consider it worthy of a mention.

In the spirit of a rule, I will not post event invites or what equates to an "ad" in advance of an event.

More in the near future on the 77th.  Keep those cards and letters coming….

Now it all makes sense. Joel had too many stories from your college days, eh?

“Keep your friends close, and your college roommate closer?”

Best man = Colleen doesn’t get the best stories…

    Nice.
