AppointmentWatch: 9 GOP, 3 Dem, 1 DTS

The Governor today announced some new appointments.  The FR continues to list out these appointments through the prism of political party with the idea that someone’s voluntary association with (or not with) a particular political party is one indicator of their overall political philosophy and/or ideology.

Congrats to FR friend Pam Corradi for being tapped for her local fairboard!  Here they are:

THE REPUBLICANS

  • Margie Beeson, 52, of Lake View Terrace, has been appointed to the San Fernando Valley Fair Board (51st District Agricultural Association). She serves as an Avid editor and media manager for KCET, public television for Los Angeles.
  • Jan Boel, 62, of Gold River, has been appointed deputy director of legislative and intragovernmental affairs for the Department of General Services. She most recently served as chief deputy director for the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research and was interim director from 2003 to 2005.
  • Pamela Corradi, 62, of Burbank, has been appointed to the San Fernando Valley Fair Board (51st District Agricultural Association). She has served as an investment advisor for Pamcoco Financial Services and consultant for The Pamela Corradi Company since 1994.
  • John Cox, 30, of Sacramento, has been appointed special assistant to the undersecretaries at the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. He has served as an assistant to the chief of staff and deputy chiefs of staff in the Office of the Governor since 2004.
  • Dennis DeYoung, 42, of Northridge, has been appointed to the San Fernando Valley Fair Board (51st District Agricultural Association). He has served as a certified financial planner for Brookstreet Securities since 1997.
  • Bonnie Dumanis, 54, of San Diego, has been appointed to the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training. She has served as San Diego County District Attorney since 2003.
  • William Lander, 49, of Woodland Hills, has been appointed to the San Fernando Valley Fair Board (51st District Agricultural Association). He has served as the manager of the Equestrian EducationCenter at Pierce College since 2002 and is the owner of Bill Lander Custom Sheep Shearing.
  • Laurie Smith, 54, of San Jose, has been appointed to the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training. She has served as sheriff of Santa Clara County since 1998 and was previously assistant sheriff from 1990 to 1998.
  • Arthur Sweet, 83, of Encino, has been appointed to the San Fernando Valley Fair Board (51st District Agricultural Association). He has served as the president and owner of A&E Development Corporation and the DCT Company since 1972.

THE DEMOCRATS

  • Barbara Perkins, 48, of Sylmar, has been appointed to the San Fernando Valley Fair Board (51st District Agricultural Association). She is a writer and adjunct instructor at Pacific Oaks College and principle consultant for the Perkins Group.
  • Robert Doyle, 58, of Novato, has been appointed to the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training. He has served as sheriff of Marin County since 1996. 
  • Debra Farar, 56, of Pacific Palisades, has been appointed to the California State University Board of Trustees. She has been a member of the Board since 1999, serving as chair from 2002 to 2004.

DECLINE-TO-STATE

  • Todd Slosek, 34, of San Francisco, has been appointed communications director for the Public Utilities Commission (PUC). He most recently served as press secretary for the Department of Corrections.
