CA Dems Launch New Website – They Ask: “How Phil Wins?” – We ask, “How Arnold Wins?”

Early this morning, at midnight, a group of ultra-liberal California Democrat operatives – Steve Maviglio, Jason Kinney, and Roger Salazar – launched a new blogsite that is supposed to be the left’s answer to… well, this website!  They have amassed an impressive array of Donkey operatives (see the attachment) and should be producing quite a bit of content…  You can be sure that we (that would be me and the FR blog team) will be keeping an eye on them!  This site has been up for nearly a year now, and has been starving for some company.  A clear contrast between the failed liberal policies of the Democrat Party and the solid, sound principles of conservatism will show that, by and large, Republicans are right and Democrats are wrong!

I have actually had a few chats over some months with the development team of their new site, the California Majority Report (CMR), in terms of giving them some logistical advice.  I would have tried to offer some policy advice as well, but I think that would have fallen on deaf ears.  Anyways, having struck up a friendship with these guys, we have agreed that from time to time we will try to do some coordination on themes and issues in order to provide the blogosphere with some point-counterpoint debates.

Yesterday afternoon I participated in a press conference with the CMR Publishers listed above, where besides talking about their new site and this one that is a little more seasoned, we talked about the importance of engaging people using technology, and how we will be in a ‘strategic relationship’ with one another.  A little later on, there was a Launch Party with special guests Speaker Fabian Nunez, Senate President Pro-Tem Don Perata and… recalled Governor Gray Davis.  Davis told the crowd of a couple-hundred Democrat operatives that this new site would be, "the best thing to come along since the FlashReport."

We’ll see about that!  I was joined at this event with fellow FR Weblog Correspondents Karen Hanretty and Duane Dichiara.

As the CMR launches their site this morning, they will be featuring, among other things, several columns under the broad theme of "How Phil Wins" — and we are complementing this theme today with three original columns here on "How Arnold Wins" — penned by three stalwarts from our blogpen — Mike Der Manouel, Jr., Bill Whalen, and Dan Schnur.

In Dan Schnur’s piece, Dan says that Angelides cannot win this election, it is Arnold’s to win…or lose, paints a picture of a campaign where Arnold Schwarzenegger is in the driver’s seat, and that the election is largely in his hands.  If he does everything according to Hoyle the next ten weeks, he will be Governor for four more years.  But if he trips up, he could lose — but that would mean that Angelides would need to find some way to close in the final weeks.

In his column, Coasting to Re-Election, Mike Der Manouel, Jr., sees the Gubernatorial race as a close one (which is a marked improvement from MDM’s dire predicitions of last year) but feels that if the Governor emphasizes "protection" as a theme, and makes good use of his veto pen, he will be well position to clinch victory in November.

Finally, Bill Whalen takes us on a little history lesson about past Gubernatorial races in California, and then he draws a compelling comparisont to the Phil Angelides of today and the Bob Dole of 1996.  Bill suggests that Angelides only chance at this point is a hail mary, a "pasta strategy" — so check out the column here.

Once you have read any or all of these columns, you can return to this page from any of them (there is a link at the bottom of each ) and post any comments or feedback on the columns on on the Democrats’ new website!
