AppointmentWatch: Gov Appoints 16 Reps, 9 Dems, 2 DTS

Today the Governor made 27 more appointments into State Government — 9 Republicans and 6 Democrats.
 

  • Fred Ameri, 66, of Newport Beach, has been appointed to the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board. 
  • Dorene Dominguez, 43, of Granite Bay, has been appointed to the California Medical Board.   
  • Karrie Eckhardt, 32, of Folsom, has been appointed to the Corrections Standards Authority.  
  • Adama Iwu, 29, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the Health Policy and Data Advisory Commission.  
  • Bruce Johnson, 52, of Fair Oaks, has been appointed to the Earthquake Authority Advisory Panel.   
  • David King, 36, of San Diego, has been appointed to the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board. 
  • Jonathan Leong, 54, of Piedmont, has been appointed to the Earthquake Authority Advisory Panel.
  • Matthew B. McGowan, 76, of San Rafael, has been appointed to the Public Works Contract Arbitration Committee. 
  • Charles McManus, 64, of Sacramento, has been appointed director of mortgage insurance for the California Housing Finance Agency.
  • Douglas Metz, 72, of Coronado, has been appointed to the Boating and Waterways Commission. 
  • Diane Miller, 50, of San Anselmo, has been appointed to the Public Works Contract Arbitration Committee. 
  • Michael Modugno, 58, of Carpinteria, has been appointed to the Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
  • Larry Scribner, 51, of El Centro, has been appointed warden of Calipatria State Prison. 
  • Mark Simmonds, 39, of Orinda, has been appointed to the Earthquake Authority Advisory Panel. 
  • Dennis Sisto, 60, of Cottonwood, has been appointed warden of Solano State Prison.
  • Larry Steven Spears, 53, of Elk Grove, has been appointed chief deputy director of the Housing Finance Agency.

  • Clifford Utley, 54, of Yucaipa, has been appointed to the Structural Pest Control Board.  Utley is a Republican.
  • Karen Brazeau, 54, of Lake Oswego, OR, has been appointed director of the Division of Juvenile Programs for the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
  • Laura N. Chick, 62, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California State Bar Board of Governors. 
  • Rodrigo Garcia, 63, of Monterey Park, has been appointed to the Earthquake Authority Advisory Panel.
  • Paul Jacks, 53, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California Service Corps.
  • Allen Martin, Ph.D., 43, of Studio City, has been appointed to the Earthquake Authority Advisory Panel.
  • Sara Rubalcava-Beck, 41, of San Marino, has been appointed to the Earthquake Authority Advisory Panel.
  • H. Cooke Sunoo, 61, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the Small Business Board.
  • Terry Young, Ph.D., 55, of Oakland, has been appointed to the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board. 

  • Kenneth Chuang, M.D., 39, of Santa Monica, has been appointed to the California Alliance to Combat Trafficking and Slavery Task Force. 
  • Elizabeth Dolezal, 57, of Carmichael, has been appointed to the Healthcare Workforce Policy Commission. 

Congrats to longtime FR friend Dorene Dominguez on her appointment and also I am pleased to see a Republican replacing me on the Boating and Waterways Commission (I stepped down last fall for professional reasons).

Oh yes, I always like to emphasize that there are qualified individuals of all political parties to serve in positions of public trust.  That having been said, how someone chooses to register gives you a quick idea of their general philosophy about politics and government.
