UPDATED: Governor Schwarzenegger and Assembly GOP Leader Blakeslee Responses to Demo’s Passing Majority-Vote Taxes

UPDATED:  Governor Schwarzenegger just put out this statement…

"I will veto any majority vote tax increase bill that punishes taxpayers for Sacramento’s failure to live within its means," the governor said in a prepared statement. "The Legislature will have a difficult time explaining to Californians why they are running floor drills the day before our budget deadline. We do not have time for any more floor drills or partial solutions. It’s time for the Legislature to send me a budget that solves our entire deficit without raising taxes."

ORIGINAL POST:

Last night watching the CalChannel on my laptop was like watching an episode of the Twilight Zone where in some horrible, alternative California, it deosn’t take a 2/3 vote of the legislature to enact tax increases.  By a majority vote, Democrats rammed through billions of dollars in new taxes to make California a more expensive place to work and to live.  You can read the tortured tale in this exclusive column from Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who not only was forced to view all of this in person, but who did a fine job himself taking the microphone himself on multiple occasions to come to the defense of California taxpayers.

Assembly Republican Leader Sam Blakeslee (although he prefers to go by "Minority Leader" — which we find odd — buy, hey, he can call himself what he wants since he’s the one putting in all of the long hours, and we can call him what we want) issued this statement after the long evening session…

Tonight’s action by Assembly Democrats to raise taxes in a way that is unconstitutional and inconsistent with the will of voters was a huge step backwards. With an economy on the brink of collapse, working families struggling to make ends meet and too many Californians losing their jobs – another round of tax increases will only make our problems far worse.

The public made it clear they want the Legislature to do their job and they expect state government to live within its means. These political drills by the Democrats drive our parties further apart and push the state that much closer to insolvency.

Democrats are convincing us they are lite socialists and nationally are becoming heavy handed facists..

Could you imagine what Bass and Steinberg, the worst legislators in California history, would do if the 2/3 vote no longer existed.

Desperation has set in the ranks of the bloated ruling class….desperation….hang in there!!!!
