ACTION ALERT! Southern California Water District set to Soak Taxpayers

Stop the Pension Increase – Sign the Letter today!

If you live in Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, San Bernardino or San Diego Counties…prepare to get soaked.

While your Water rates have increased by more than 20% in the past year, the agency who supplies that water is set to give 2,000 of their employees a Pension increase that would give the workers 75% of their annual salary upon retirement – without the workers paying a single dime into the system.

The Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Water District is set to vote on this issue next Tuesday, October 13th at a public hearing in L.A., and they need to hear from you.

It’s time to say: “No New Pensions.”

With just one click, you can OPPOSE the Pension hike by signing onto a Letter courtesy of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, who will see to it that your Letters are delivered at the public hearing. Sign the Letter today.

And don’t think the Metropolitan Water District will stop at this Pension hike.

In addition to your 20% rate increase this year, an additional water rate increase of 19% is slated for 2011. A single family household will likely see an annual rate increase of $125.

To make matters worse, the Metropolitan Water District’s pension system itself has had a $400 Million decline over the past year, and the system currently needs $30 Million annually just to “catch up” to pay its existing unfunded healthcare liabilities.

And if you think these issues don’t affect you, you’re wrong. It affects approximately 19 million water customers in the Metropolitan Water District’s service area in Southern California. The District supplies water to 26 other agencies. So, if you pay for water in Southern California, you’re about to get soaked.

Howard Jarvis Radio Ad Targets the Pension Hike
In related news, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association has issued an airstrike on the Southern California airwaves against the egregious Pension plan. The new radio spot will air right up until the MWD Board meets on Tuesday. Listen to the radio spot here.

One Response to “ACTION ALERT! Southern California Water District set to Soak Taxpayers”

  1. soldsoon@aol.com Says:

Many many renters do not pay for water in their apartments….long showers, flushing, leaks, washing cars…..more the better….

If water gets expensive and landlords force tenants into paying for water….watch for the human outcry….nasty private economy landlords….boo hoo. Government please protect us….we cannot afford water costs…make the landlord pay them….boo hoo.

Socialism sucks so bad you can taste it even in the water you drink!

Fat pensions for bloated California “government controlled” educated rejects working in water districts is a CRIME! Let the layoffs commence…..
