CRA Introduces Resolution To GOP Convention To Censure GOP Legislators That Vote To Put Tax Increase On June ’11 Ballot

Last night I received an email from Celeste Greig, President of the California Republican Assembly (dubbed the conscience of the GOP) — who informed me that on behalf of the CRA, she has introduced two resolutions for consideration at next weekend’s California Republican Party Convention.

The first one, immediately below, is pretty self-expla

natory.  This is a resolution that would seek to condemn and censure GOP legislators that vote to put taxes on a June special election ballot.  Greig actually leaves blank spaces in this resolution so that, if necessary, the names can be added in…

                                                California Republican Party
                                  Resolution Denouncing "Republican Traitors
For Consideration at the Convention in Sacramento, March 18-20, 2011

                                      Submitted by Celeste Greig, President
                                          California Republican Assembly

Whereas, California is suffering from the predictable results of hugh taxes, oppressive fees,
burdensome assessments, and outrageous government excessive demands of every
sort and description, which have destroyed our state’s business climate, caused
employers to flee the state, increased unemployment, eroded our tax based, raised
consumer prices, and seriously damaged our economy; and

Whereas, Governor Jerry Brown and the Democrats who control the California Legislature
are seeking higher taxes and they have even proposed to extend the largest tax
increases in California history, despite the fact that such an extension was soundly
rejected by the voters in May, 2009; and

Whereas, traitorous Republican Assembly members____________, ____________, ________
          and Senators______________, _________________, __________ (fill-in when known)
betrayed the principles and platform of the California Republican Party by voting to
place massive tax increases on the ballot, with full knowledge of the terrible
impact that their votes would have on California taxpayers, the state’s economy,
and the future of the California Republican Party; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, that the California Republican Party censures these traitorous Republicans-in-Name
-Only, ask for their resignation from their positions within the California Republican
Party, pledges to endorse and support efforts to recall them from office, and directs the
California Republican Party staff, agents and officers to refuse to provide them with
funding or assistance in future elections.

Below is a second resolution, to praise Republican legislators, for standing together against putting taxes on the ballot…

                            Resolution Commending Tax-Fighting Legislators
For Consideration at the Convention in Sacramento, March 18-20, 2011

barrage of vicious attacks from the Democrats and their special interest allies for
defending taxpayers and the productive sector of society, on whom our future
          depends; and

Whereas, no California Republican candidate has ever run for public office, under
the platform of raising taxes, specially when voters are being overburden with
tremendous gasoline prices. and yes "we’re being assault like never before"; and

Whereas, our brave Republican legislators have refuse to place tax increases on the
ballot unless they were accompanied by a ballot measure to cut taxes by an equal
or greater amount; now, be it

Resolved, that the California Republican Party commends the brave, tax-fighting
Republicans legislators who refused to yield to pressure to raised taxes on the
working families of California and expand the size of California’s bloated and
            wasteful government.
