The rosters seem to be set for both sides of the 60th AD Primary for next year, making it – so far as I can tell – the first competitive race with all sides having their teams in place. Within the last couple of weeks, both Curt Hagman and Larry Dick have brought on campaign managers to oversee the ground aspects of their races.
Hagman, a Chino Hills Councilman, snapped up Saulo Londondo to manage his race. Saulo had been working in Van Tran’s District Office. Previously, he ran Trung Nguyen’s OC Supervisor’s race, and before that was Deputy Manager on Lyn Daucher’s Senate race.
This adds another to Hagman’s impressive team, which includes lead consultant Jim Nygren, fundraiser Diane Stone, and Mike Richman lending a hand.
Dick, a Water Board member from OC, had to look a little farther for his ground guy, convincing Barrett Tetlow to move back down from Sacramento, where he had been working in Assemblyman Martin Garrick’s Capitol office. But OC certainly isn’t unfamiliar territory for Barrett. Before going up North, Barrett managed OC in it’s entirety as County Director for Victory ’06, and prior to that was Van Tran’s District Director.
Dick has also assembled an impressive team to lead his race, and not just because it’s headed by current and former FlashReport contributors Joe Justin (as lead consultant), and Adam Probolsky (as pollster). In addition, while Dick had to bring in his manager from across the state, his finance director comes from literally within the family, as his daughter Jane just happens to be an alumni of several years with Anne Dunsmore’s Capital Campaigns. It has to be nice to have that sort of talent and experience so close to home. Rounding out the team are Wendy Warfield, doing the fundraising in Sacramento, and Julian Babbitt as Political Director.
Both of these campaigns have put together impressive teams, each having found their managers from within the ranks of the Team Tran, which certainly is a testament to Van.
The 60th continues to be a fun race to watch.
