Solorio Gets Endorsements

The campaign for Santa Ana City Councilman and candidate for the Democrat nomination for the 69th Assembly District (a Dem stonghold) Jose Solorio announced today:

"We have received formal endorsements from four statewide organizations that Democratic candidates compete for:  the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFL-CIO, California), California League of Conservation Voters, the California School Employees Association, and the Service Employees International Union California State Council.  Each of these organizations represents thousands of members statewide and in the 69th Assembly District.  I am honored to have received their endorsements."

The campaign also released that they conducted a poll and found the results to be very favorable for Solorio.  See my previous post on this race here.

Solorio represents a unique kind of Democrat.  He is clearly a friend to organized labor, but fiercely defends property rights and plays well with others (read Republicans).  The race for the 69th also includes Claudia Alvarez one of Solorio’s colleagues on the council (she is also a deputy district attorney) and Armando de la Libertad who boasts the support of both Sanchez sisters in Congress.

On the GOP side is Ryan Gene the next in a long line of failed Republicans in this district.  But registration #s are swinging back to Reps so within a couple cycles this district could be in play again.
