Today’s Commentary: Recruit this.

If the work product of the legislature really irks me all the way down here in Orange County, I can only imagine how the Governor feels.

One piece of legislation that is 1) totally unnecessary and 2) bad for America, is AB1778 Lieber (D).  The law would make it extremely difficult for military recruiters to identify interested high school graduating seniors.

The law gets way more specific than the heavy hand of government ought to.  It creates a new box on the emergency contact card all parents fill out at the time they enroll their kids in a school.  The new box could be checked by parents who do not want the information shared with the military.

    The Federal, “No Child Left Behind ” act requires high schools to provide the
    US military with contact info for high school students.

    In a press release announcing her bill in January, Assemblywoman Sally
    Lieber of San Jose shrieked that, “Many parents have been shocked with
    the aggressiveness of military recruiters.”

    It’s comforting that Ms. Lieber is protecting California from the U.S. military !

    Her other principal legislative goal is a bill (AB 1121) to stop executions of
    convicted California murderers for 3 years.

    Sally Summary: (1) U.S. Military recruiters: BAD… (2) convicted murderers
    of Californians: NOT so bad.

    There must be a factory somewhere where they manufacture Liberal manques!
