Sen. Walters Blogs, Dutton on YouTube, and Blakeslee Blasts Dems

WALTERS IS BLOGGING THE BUDGET CONFERENCE
State Senator Mimi Walters, one of three Republicans on the Budget Conference Committee who opposed the ill-fated big taxes/big budget/open primary deal last February, has set up a blog (www.waltersreport.com) to keep interested parties up to speed on what is going on in that key committee…

Senator Walters had this to say to FR:

The prevailing misconception among the Democrat Legislative Leadership is that by raising taxes our state can generate more revenue and bridge the budget gap. Californians are the highest taxed in the nation, and the message from the May 19th special election was loud and clear: No More Taxes. The Walters Report is intended to inform Californians about the current budget discussions and to help my Democratic colleagues understand the fiscal reality that is facing California’s working class and small business owners. It is my hope that FlashReport readers will check in on my blog every day.

SENATOR DUTTON ON STATE’S FISCAL MESS
Bob Dutton, the other Senate GOP conferee on the Joint Budget Committee, has this to say…

BLAKESLEE BLASTS DEMS
Also yesterday afternoon newly minted Assembly Republican Leader Sam Blakeslee put out a statement in response to Democrats proposing billions in tax increases…

I am deeply disappointed that the Democrats chose to use the Conference Committee to continue pushing their tax agenda. The public made it abundantly clear on May 19 that government must live within its means – no excuses, no taxes.

The Democrat’s unyielding efforts to raise taxes on California’s working families will jeopardize the legislature’s ability to solve this crisis in time to avoid insolvency.

These cuts are difficult for all of us and every member of this Legislature wishes that we had easier options. We need to budget wisely and implement common sense reforms so taxpayer dollars are spent where they do the most good with the least amount of waste.
