Another Head Scratcher: Meg Whitman “Huge Fan” of Van Jones

Like many conservatives in California, I regret ever getting on the Arnold bandwagon.  Although he has been very good for the past two months, he squandered his political capital on nothing, then aided the State’s freefall into the abyss by not being even remotely fiscally conservative.  I have the same misgivings about Meg Whitman.  That sinking feeling that she is not authentic, too quick to praise leftist radicals, and not resolute enough to stand up to the leftists in this State largely responsible for our debt and deficits.

Conservatives throughout California got a glimpse of a very naive Meg Whitman this week in her video praising former Obama Green Czar Van Jones.

Whitman, who didn’t even register as a Republican until 2007, said that she is a “huge fan” of Van Jones and that Jones is, “very bright, very articulate.” In the video below, you can see Meg herself continue to gush about the marvelous job that Van Jones is doing and how she is a “big fan” of his work. Michelle Malkin even weighed into the debate by issuing a blog memo to Meg Whitman noting, “Stop Mindlessly Praising Commies In Green Clothing.”

Here is a link to the YouTube Video.

The real question here is why on earth is a Republican going on a climate change cruise with Van Jones and Jimmy Carter? Additionally, do we really want this person to represent the California Republican Party? To be fair, the Whitman campaign issued a statement late Friday saying that Meg only met Van Jones at dinner and that she didn’t really know him that well. That’s an interesting response considering that Meg highlights that she got to know Van Jones very well on the cruise.

The questions surrounding Meg Whitman’s candidacy and her political past continue to pile-up as we head into campaign season. She just became a Republican, and more relevant to this conversation, she refuses to debate her opponents in a public forum. Conservatives want Whitman to clarify her support of Van Jones (judging by the blogs, her excuse just isn’t cutting it) but Meg won’t engage in a public debate about anything including policy and the lingering questions on Van Jones.

At the end of the day, I decided to support Steve Poizner for Governor because he is a proven, entrepreneurial conservative and not the type of guy who runs around praising left wing wackos like Van Jones to the San Francisco Chronicle.

I won’t be Schwarzeneggered again.

Steve Poizner appears to be pro-gun control. I’ve heard reports that he refused to meet with NRA reps.

If he’d like to clairify his position on gun rights, he has a forum here.

I don’t think CA gunnies will support him.

Frankly, CA gunnies are not getting much work from the CA Republican party. At best we can hope for “No” votes, but nobody is carrying passable, incremental legislation that CA gunnies can exploit.
