Get Your Twitter Account Ready for 2012

Politico just featured a great article that reveals how Democrats are planning to make social media a major part of their 2012 campaign. Barack Obama was the first presidential candidate to really harness social networking and new media capacities so it makes sense his party is such a fan of these increasingly critical tools.

Republicans have been a little slower in embracing this new technology. It seems rather strange considering the Republican Party is the political party that champions business innovations such as social networking. Because social media and social networking have become so important in communicating with voters and constituents, it’s imperative conservatives learn how to effectively use the Internet to spread our message and then listen to voters’ concerns.

Americans for Prosperity has been doing a fantastic job countering the liberal dominance of new media. With its RightOnline conferences, conservatives are given the training and skills they need to take advantage of what has become the people’s media. No longer forced to try and communicate via the conventional methods of mainstream media such as TV, radio or newspapers, average citizens can truly make a difference by using Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and blogs.

AFP California is partnering with the Flash Report to hold a regional RightOnline conference in Sacramento this Friday, March 18. With the CRP convention this weekend, lots of conservatives will already be in town. I strongly encourage attendees to come a little earlier on Friday to participate in the valuable training provided by AFP and Flash Report.

Technology is changing so rapidly that it can be difficult to keep up with the latest means of communication. Thanks to organizations like AFP and publications like Flash Report, conservatives can make sure they’re utilizing the most innovative tools to achieve election and policy victories.
