Oops! they did it again.

Oops! they did it again:  public trusts Britany as much as Legislature on budget.

A statewide poll conducted by Wilson Research had an interesting item – it turns out the public is almost equally split between the California Legislature and Britany Spears on who they trust more to manage budgets.

Here’s the excerpt from the toplines:

Q17:  And, who do you think would do a better job handling your family’s budget [ROTATE] California legislators or Brittany Spears?
1.    California Legislators                          35%
2.    Brittany Spears                                    31%
3.    DK/Refused [DNR]                           34%

It’s hardly a wonder.  Instead of solving real problems, the Legislature seems to say Oops! We Did It Again and continues producing Chaotic budgets that rely on more gimmicks than a Circus. The latest gimmick is a 10% “tax acceleration” (i.e. an income tax hike) that’s feeding a government that seems insatiable and continues yowling Gimme More, while the economy is stuck in Quicksand.

Meanwhile, back in Sacramento The Beat Goes On. The budget is already in the red and some Legislators are pushing for additional tax hikes.  As a taxpayer, I can’t help thinking You Got It All, and wishing the state would just Let Me Be, especially since new or higher taxes would be Toxic to an economic recovery.

The poll was sponsored by a new group that’s frustrated by Sacramento’s failure to solve problems – they’ve begun a petition (NoToSacamento) asking that the Legislature repeal the tax hike.

Are we heading for a Show Down? Well, I’m not announcing the Britany for Governor campaign, but there is definitely something in the works, so you can bet I’ve Just Begun.

Ouch — both for the statistics, and for the Spears song references!

I was going to add something about trimming the fat, but that would be just mean…

This might say more about the public (who answer survey questions) than it does the legislature, but overall point taken!
