Van Tran: McCain Will Stand Tall Against Islamic Fanaticism, Wasteful Spending

Assemblyman Van Tran is an ardent supporter of Senator John McCain’s candidacy for the White House.  He makes the following case to FR readers in support McCain:

McCain Will Stand Tall Against Islamic Fanaticism, Wasteful Spending
by Assemblyman Van Tran

After this week’s Republican Primary victory in Florida, Sen. McCain will now move into Super Tuesday in a great position to be the Republican nominee for President.  As a proud member of Senator McCain’s California Finance Team and state Co-Chair, I encourage my fellow conservatives to take a second look at a man who knows that the transcendent challenge of the 21st century is radical Islamic extremism.

Orange County Republicans will learn what the voters of New Hampshire and South Carolina, Florida Sen. Mel Martinez and Gov. Charlie Crist already know – as our Republican Presidential nominee, Sen. McCain will be focused like a laser beam on keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House, emphasizing his record fighting pork-barrel spending and Islamic fanaticism.

This victory in the Republican-only Sunshine State primary cements McCain’s status as the GOP front-runner and put him in a commanding position to wrap up our party’s nomination on Super Tuesday.  A recent Chariot Survey shows McCain with a slight lead in the Feb. 5th California race, but nearly 50% of Republicans are “Undecided” in the California GOP Primary.

I would remind those “Undecided” voters that Senator McCain is not just a friend to American freedom here at home – Senator McCain has spilled blood for freedom worldwide and has made sacrifices for freedom that most can’t even imagine.

McCain will do the hard work of building support for the fight against Islamic extremists.  The Senator’s push for a troop surge in Iraq was not a popular strategy at the time.  But Sen. McCain did not compromise his philosophy for political expediency.  The “Surge strategy” he advocated for more than four years is now showing results on the ground and America has a chance to bring our troops home to a victory parade.

If Republicans are to win in California, we will need to show why we are different from the current Washington politicians and we will need a President who is ready to step in as Commander-in-Chief from day one – a President who will lead the debate against Democrat efforts to force surrender in Iraq and fight business as usual in Washington.

And frankly, no one has fought “business-as-usual” in Washington like Sen. McCain has.  John McCain has been a steady, loud, articulate voice against the over spending of our federal government.  Especially, what we all know as “pork.”  Let’s face it; Congress has been spending money like John Edwards at a hair salon.

In too many areas, business-as-usual politics prevents addressing the important challenges facing our nation.

Every dollar irresponsibly spent by Congress is a dollar diverted from pressing national priorities including lowering the tax burden on working Americans, supporting the men and women fighting the war on terror, making good on the nation’s financial commitments at home, including to senior citizens, and paying down the national debt.

I’m honored and excited to help Senator McCain’s efforts to become our next President.  I’m confident Sen. McCain will bring voters back to our pro-freedom Republican Party here in California and nationwide.
