AD5 Watch: Pugno Takes in over $400,000 from over 4,000 donors…

We have written before about the meteoric fundraising taking place by attorney Andy Pugno, who is a Republican running for Assembly in the 5th District.  Andy continues to impress everyone I know with his ability to raise funds from grassroots donors.

Pugno’s campaign for Assembly has reached a new milestone — he now has over 4,000 separate donors who have now contibuted an aggregate of more than $400,000!   I think those numbers are straggering, and clearly establish Andy as the frontrunner for the GOP nomination.

Since announcing his candidacy, Pugno has continued to add hundreds of new supporters to his campaign each month. Many of these individuals have crossed party lines to support Pugno, who has centered his campaign on a message of bringing fiscal responsibility to California state government.

“I am deeply humbled by the strong support from so many businesses and individuals who believe we need fiscally responsible leaders in office,” said Pugno. “Californians have lost faith in their government. With the help of so many individuals from across the state, I will work to restore the people’s faith and put the government back on the side of taxpayers.”

If you care about actually changing things in Sacramento-I mean really changing things. You need the kind of leadership Andy brings. Cynicism is not conservatism. If you are not doing something to send Andy to the legislature- you either don’t know what it takes to change this place or you don’t care.

Russell–because voting for someone like Craig DeLuz instead would be a vote for more of the same from the Republican Party?

Note, this is not a criticism of Andy, but to claim it is some sort of moral imperative to support him when there is another really compelling candidate in the primary is ridiculous.

I’ve known Andy for 15 years, and I know Russell has known him at least as long. Andy Pugno is a conservative first and a Republican second. That’s the type of person who won’t get beaten down (unlike Cogdill) or sell out (unlike Adams).

Can you say the same about DeLuz?

This will be a very interesting race because on one side you have a guy with lots of money but has never really been active in the community, and on the other hand you have a guy with little money, but has been very active and know in the community. Can Craig’s hard work in the community throughout the years overcome Andy’s money? I Guess we will find out.

Nick–the answer is absolutely yes. If you don’t know Craig, you should. He’s been doing the kind of work that Republicans should have been doing for years.

Fantastic news for Democrats. Nominate an extremist in a swing district against a pediatrician.

    Two-thirds majority here we come!
