Narcissist Gov. Jerry Brown’s Diversions From Responsibility

All Hell is breaking loose in California as residents are being burned out of their homes, neighborhoods and businesses, while Gov. Jerry Brown is jetting around the world spouting climate change propaganda. He calls this California’s ‘new normal.’ “With climate change, some scientists are saying Southern California is literally burning up, and burning up as maybe a metaphor or a description not just to the fires right here, but what we can expect over the next years and decades,” Brown said.

I say ‘propaganda’ because Brown loves to cloak himself in false religiosity (ironic as a seminary drop-out) for the purpose of manipulation. And obfuscation. And diversion.

While speaking at a summit of mayors at the Vatican in 2015, Brown pontificated that the world may have “gone over the edge” on global warming. “We’re talking about extinction,” Brown said. I’m assuming Brown and his entourage didn’t fly to Rome, or Paris, or Brussels, or China on solar powered planes.

Narcissists have several telltale diversion tactics they use to escape responsibility:

Intimidate/Blame. Accuse/Project. Argue/Exhaust. Deny/Rewrite. Divert/Attack. Fear/Avoid.

We’ve witnessed California’s ludicrous Governor Jerry Brown use all of these tactics to avoid responsibility for the demise of the once great Golden State, of which he has been governor for four terms. “We don’t even know how far we’ve gone, or if we’ve gone over the edge,” Brown said. “We are talking about extinction. We are talking about climate regimes that have not been seen for tens of millions of years. We’re not there yet, but we’re on our way.”

The Divert/Attack tactic is a favorite of Gov. Brown’s. According to  “This method begins with an outburst over something very insignificant. Then, the narcissist exaggerates the point to incite the other person and draw their attention away from what really is happening. Whenever the narcissist is fueling a small fire, it is to keep the focus off the inferno somewhere else. The diversion is done to drain resources, energy, and time so the narcissist can attack when the other person is vulnerable.”

Still not sure? “’When the enemy’s firing, you have to fire back,’ he says,” Vanity Fair reported in an interview with Gov. Brown. “You have no time to sit on your petard pontificating, thinking about legacy. We’re on the field of battle here. Climate is changing. Global warming is occurring. Later, when you’re ready for your dotage and have nothing else to do, invent a legacy—I guess. But we’re in the middle of doing things here.”

As for “doing things here,” Brown has managed to divert the fawning, slobbering California media away from his actual responsibilities as California Governor, and instead has them focused on hysteria, doom, gloom, and intangibles like “climate change.”

Jerry Brown: Preacher, Scientist, or Dingbat?

Sunday, in a puff piece of biblical proportions, Brown was on CBS News’ 60 Minutes and criticized President Trump for ignoring the science of climate change, and blames him for exacerbating a problem that is causing California’s fires. “I don’t think President Trump has a fear of the Lord, the fear of the wrath of God, which leads one to more humility. (Accuse/Project) And this is such a reckless disregard for the truth and for the existential consequences that can be unleashed,” Brown said, in an interview about his climate change battle using California, while he expresses concern with human existence. One would think if Jerry was sincerely “concerned with human existence,” he might start at home and reverse some of his policies raising taxes on gas and diesel, and forcing businesses to buy carbon permits and participate in faux carbon auctions. Brown also wants internal combustion engine vehicles outlawed in California by 2025… which will put a chill on the human existence in California. (Fear/Avoid.)

Just last month Brown said the world needs ‘brain washing’ on climate change. Sounding indeed brainwashed, Brown said, “The problem … is us. It’s our whole way of life. It’s our comfort … It’s the greed. It’s the indulgence. It’s the pattern. And it’s the inertia.” (Accuse/Project)

The level of air pollution in the United States is among the lowest on the planet, according to the World Health Organization. Why does Jerry Brown believe “the threat of climate change could be more dangerous than that of fascism during World War Two?” (Argue/Exhaust)

“Following Trump’s election, California’s Democrat Governor Jerry Brown has taken a mostly defiant stance, telling Trump that “California is not turning back” in reference to the president’s border security and immigration policies.[i]I wrote in my new book, “California’s War Against Donald Trump: Who Wins? Who Loses?”

“Brown, now 79, even warned the President, “You don’t want to mess with California,” in an interview on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ in March 2016.” (Divert/Attack)

CA Gov. Jerry Brown’s War Against the Truth

In his January 2017 State of the State address, Brown dug in his heels and pledged to continue forging dubious climate agreements with other states and countries. He made it very clear he would be at odds with the Trump administration, and the President. “With a newfound role as Trump counterpoint on the world stage, the 79-year-old California governor doesn’t have much time to worry about how his public service will be remembered,” Vanity Fair opined.

In Brown’s world view, the elites are also exempted from hypocrisy. In 2016, I explained: “The inconsistencies of California Gov. Jerry Brown’s climate change policies, together with his immigration policies, are formidable and deliberately deceptive — one policy is driving taxpayers and businesses out of the state, and the other is driving droves of unskilled, unemployed aliens into the state.”

Brown screeched in 2015 that California has an overpopulation problem, and the ongoing drought was proof that the explosion of population in California has reached the limit of what the states’ resources can provide. “We are altering this planet with this incredible power of science, technology and economic advance,” Brown told the publisher of the Los Angeles Times. “If California is going to have 50 million people, they’re not going to live the same way the native people lived, much less the way people do today.… You have to find a more elegant way of relating to material things. You have to use them with greater sensitivity and sophistication.”

Then why does Brown have an open borders policy with illegal aliens? (Deny/Rewrite)

Trumping the President

In November, Brown lectured scientists on climate change at a European Union meeting in Brussels, and proselytized that California will be ‘wiped out’ by climate change.

In the Vanity Fair interview in July, Brown said that because Trump has taken “such an outlandish position” on climate change, he has perhaps inadvertently “heightened the focus” on it. “He’s given climate denial such a bad name,” said Brown, “that he’s given the climate-action movement a thrust that it would never have generated on its own.”

Jerry Brown has been in public office for nearly 40 years: California Secretary of State 1971-1975; Governor of California 1975 to 1983; mayor of Oakland 1999-2007; Attorney General 2007-2011; Governor of California again 2011-2018. Brown ran for president three times: 1976, 1980, 1992. “I liked running for president,” he says. “That’s why I did it three times.”

The Destructive Narcissist

The economically strapped middle class continues to flee California because of bad schools, very high and increasing taxes, rampant crime, and declining local and state services. California is home to one-third of the nation’s welfare recipients. California is home to the most residents living below the poverty line in the country. And now with our politicians’ disregard for federal immigration laws, more than a quarter of the 38 million Californians were not even born in the United States.

“The narcissist bullies people endeavoring to hold them accountable. Frequently they resort to name calling and belittling to assert dominance over people,” says Hammond. To those who dare to disagree, Gov. Brown calls us cave dwelling “troglodytes,” and “freeloaders.”

“The narcissist projects the things they are answerable for onto the other person.” Once the Golden State of opportunity, California has become the welfare state of nanny government, entitlements, and oppression, and far fewer individual rights.

“The narcissist will make excuses and rewrite history.”

“Narcissists have the ability to take a person’s small fear and turn it into paranoia. Their charisma is put to destructive uses as they weave a believable story with an intense dreadful outcome”: Climate Change.
