The ‘Powertainment’ Industry is Crumbling Down

Hollywood is imploding right before our eyes. The NFL is bleeding fans and advertising dollars. Most daily newspapers have shrunk to the size of a brochure. Evening news has turned into infotainment – less info and news and more ‘tainment.’

The harrowing tale of Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein is all anyone can talk about now, but hundreds, and maybe thousands were sure silent about Weinstein’s sexual exploits over the last two decades. Think of it as the worst kept secret in Hollywood and in liberal Democrat circles.

“For more than twenty years, Weinstein has also been trailed by rumors of sexual harassment and assault,” Ronan Farrow reported in The New Yorker.… Read More

Bad Journalism Deja’ Vu In Rolling Stone’s UVA Rape Story

Journalism’s most basic tenets of truth and accuracy, independence from special interests or conflict-of-interests, fairness and impartiality, and accountability, mean that writers must be fair, stick to the data and facts, question both sides, question the authorities, and listen to the explanations. But that’s not what we are getting with the recent Rolling Stone story of campus rape at the University of Virginia.

In fact, the mainstream media keeps telling and retelling a big fat lie about the phony campus rape epidemic.

The story that “Jackie” told to Rolling Stone about being brutally gang-raped in a UVA fraternity house over the course of three hours, never made sense. Perhaps because the Rolling Stone reporter never talked to the young men accused of the alleged gang rape. Yet Rolling Stone published the story anyway. And UVA suspended the entire Greek system on campus.

If this brings back memories of the Duke University Lacrosse phony rape case, it should. It’s a bad journalism… Read More

Feminists’ Bogus ‘War on Women’ Battered In November Elections

The feminists’ bogus “war on women” took a beating in the November elections. That’s why they’ve been so quietly lately.

The phony war on women narrative was only ever really a war on those who believe women should have to pay for their own birth control, and those who are opposed to abortion. But the war was ginned-up with thenon-existent pay gap,and thephony campus rape crisis.

The beat-down is largely because feminism does not live up to its definition. And it does not represent most women.

Today’s feminism is victimization; it encourages blaming other people for mistakes, bad choices, and failures. The problem today is that feminists now push public policy.

Last week a feminist professor said that America should stop putting all women in jail, for any crime.

Campus Reform reported, “Patricia O’Brien, an assistant professor at the University of Illinois’s Jane Addam’s College of Social Work, contends that the majority of women in prison are merely non-violent, poorly educated, unemployed, and abused, according to her op-ed in… Read More

Campus Sexual Assault Bill Is Lipstick on a Pig

Instead of addressing the degrading hook-up culture young people have come to accept, the Legislature declared sex “a contractual event,” and redefined consensual sexual relations as “rape” if it occurs on a college campus.

Rather than promoting the education of college students about abstinence and self-respect, Senate Bill 967, by Sen. Kevin de Leon, will allow California colleges and universities to deal internally with campus sexual violence by requiring each school to adopt Legislature-approved “victim-centered sexual assault response policies and protocols that… Read More
